For FCA-regulated firms

SEO rewards publishing often. Regulation rewards publishing carefully.

Most firms resolve that tension by publishing almost nothing, and then wonder why a competitor with a worse proposition outranks them. Glide does search work for FCA-regulated firms written to the approval route rather than against it. One monthly retainer from £1,000 plus VAT.

The worked example

Where the six months goes

A generalist agency proposes twelve pieces of content a quarter. At a regulated firm, each one goes to an approver who has a day job, comes back with changes, gets rewritten by someone who does not know why the change was asked for, and goes back again. Two of the twelve publish. The agency reports on the two and the firm concludes SEO does not work in financial services.

Nothing in that story is a ranking problem. The content was never the constraint and neither was the budget. The constraint was that the work was written by people who had never read the rulebook, so every piece needed a second pass that a compliant first draft would not have needed.

Write it to the standard first and the approval step stops being a bottleneck. That is most of the advantage, and it is unglamorous enough that almost nobody sells it.

What changes when the agency knows the rules

Balance is designed in, not bolted on

A promotion has to be fair, clear and not misleading, and risk cannot be buried under the benefit. Writing that in from the first draft reads better than retrofitting a warning box, and it survives the approval route intact.

Consumer Duty shapes the page, not just the policy

Consumer understanding is an outcome you have to be able to evidence. A page written at the reading level your client really has is both better marketing and part of the evidence, which is a rare case of the two pulling the same way.

Claims are sourced before they are written

Past performance, comparisons, superlatives and anything with a number attached get checked at the drafting stage, because that is where a change is free. After publication it costs an approval cycle.

Structure does the ranking work

Where the copy has limited room to manoeuvre, the technical side carries more of the load: indexation, internal linking, schema, service-level pages and speed. None of it needs sign-off, and most regulated sites have never had it done.

The proof

Square 4 Partners, an FCA regulatory compliance consultancy, is where the numbers come from. Average Google position moved from 28 to 14 and held there for nine months, on 843,000 impressions and 18,200 organic clicks over sixteen months.

We also run compliant Google Ads for them, including Google's verification for financial services advertisers, which is where a lot of regulated firms get stuck before a single click is bought.

The Glide Retainer, from £1,000/mo

Website, hosting, the search and AI-search foundations and compliance-aware marketing in one monthly fee. A heavier ongoing SEO campaign for genuinely competitive terms is priced separately, from £1,000 a month on top.

Financial services SEO, answered

Because search rewards publishing often and regulation rewards publishing carefully, and most firms resolve that by publishing almost nothing. The site goes up, the approval route makes the next change painful, and three years later nothing has been added. It is rarely a technical problem. It is a process problem that looks like a technical one.

A great deal of it is. A financial promotion is an invitation or inducement to engage in investment activity, and that catches far more of a normal marketing site than firms expect: service pages, landing pages, most of a blog that mentions what you do. Treating the whole site as in scope from the start is cheaper than discovering it page by page.

That is the job. We write to the standard first so what reaches your approver is designed to pass, and we expect to be told when it does not. What we will not do is hold your permissions or sign anything off. The regulatory duty stays with your firm, and any agency that implies otherwise is selling you a problem.

Three to six months for meaningful ranking change in most of these markets, and longer where a national brand or a comparison site occupies the terms. Square 4 Partners moved from an average position of 28 to 14 and held it for nine months, which gives a realistic shape: the move is not a spike, and holding it is the harder half.

Increasingly, and the risk cuts both ways. A model summarising your sector can describe your service inaccurately to a prospective client with no page of yours involved. Being the clearest, best-structured source on the questions your buyers ask is how you influence that, and it is the same work that earns a featured snippet.

Yes. This work is national and most of it happens over a screen share. The Essex pages on this site exist because local search is a separate discipline with separate terms, not because the regulated work is regional.
