Millrace Furniture

Web Design for a Furniture Restoration Business

A new website and local SEO foundation for a furniture restoration business that took the site from generating zero leads to at least twenty enquiries a month.

Millrace Furniture case study

The brief

Millrace Furniture restores antique and period furniture for private clients, dealers and trade. The work is highly skilled, the customer base is loyal, and demand is there — but the website wasn't doing anything to bring new clients to the workshop. Owner Mike Thompson wanted that to change.

The challenge

Restoration is a considered purchase. Clients are sending pieces with sentimental or significant financial value, and they pick a restorer they trust. The previous website wasn't generating leads at all — visitors weren't being persuaded, and Google wasn't being given the signals it needed to surface Millrace to people actively searching for restoration locally.

What we did

A trust-led website rebuild

We rebuilt the site around what clients actually want to see before they trust a restorer with a piece of furniture: the work itself, the process, the team, and clear ways to get in touch with photos of a project to discuss.

Local SEO foundations

We targeted the searches restoration clients actually use — restoration types, furniture periods, location-and-service combinations — and tightened up the on-page structure, schema and Google Business Profile so Millrace started showing up for the right queries.

Conversion-led enquiry flow

The enquiry path was redesigned around how restoration clients actually behave: send a few photos, describe the piece, get a sensible answer back. Friction came out, response rate went up.

The outcome

Millrace went from a website that generated zero leads to one bringing in at least twenty enquiries every month. Mike put it bluntly: "We weren't getting any leads from our website. Since using Glide, we now get at least twenty each month!" The workshop is now busy with work that arrives through the front door of the site rather than only through old contacts.

Why this matters for your business

If you run a skilled-trade or restoration business and your website is silent, it's probably not because the demand isn't there — it's because the site isn't making the case or being found. We rebuild and rerank sites for skilled trades so they actually generate enquiries every month, not just occasionally.
